OTTN (On To The Next)

Tommy Faith Deviating between sonic references and themes both heavy and lightfingered, IJALE dropped a classic with this record. So many individual tracks that could stand on their own as singles, production that'd light up the night and a voice that's rich with tone and swagger. Favorite track: JUJU (feat. Dayne Jordan).

about

Setting his sights solely on creating during the lockdown era, pulling nothing & everything together as inspiration, the eighteen track mixtape, which flows more as a sonic collage than a traditional LP, showcases IJALE in his zone. What was once a lockdown experiment slowly blossomed into IJALE’s finest work yet.

Guiding listeners on a journey through his psyche, ‘OTTN’ flows through IJALE’s unique perspective with vignettes acting as time stamps to how he was feeling from moment to polarising moment.

While OTTN marks IJALE’s first full-length project, he has already established himself as one of Australia’s finest up & coming names in the ever-expanding local Hip Hop scene with his 2020 debut EP Wildly Disparate Sounds & the singles that followed. From gritty tracks such as the Drill-inspired 'SPACE’, to its more vulnerable moments in piano ballad ’SAGE’, ‘ OTTN' invites listeners to delve into IJALE’s inner workings in his most cathartic work to date, showing us his musings on past relationships, new love, self-love, racial unrest, and patriarchal masculinity. A true artist that thrives in uncertainty, if you haven’t hopped on the IJALE train yet there’s no better time to do so.
